Mejdool Date Charoset - Recipe by Neeli Moses

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups (approx. 15) pitted Mejdool dates
  • 1 cup water
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • small walnut pieces and ground pistachios, for garnish (optional)

 

Instructions:

  1. Wash and place the pitted dates in a small pot.
  2. Add 1 cup water to the dates. The water should be at the same level as the dates.
  3. Bring it to boil.
  4. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium or low, and cover the pot with a lid. Wait until all the water evaporates.
  5. Add salt and lemon juice.
  6. Use a hand blender to bring the date mixture to a pasty consistency.
  7. Garnish with pieces of walnut (small) and ground pistachios.
  8. Serve it with Matzah.
